Badminton lessons will help you initially learn and then continue to hone your skills. With each lesson make sure you perform warm up exercises and review serving first.
Badminton can look quite easy to the untrained eye. There are however many things to learn and train for to master the game.
One game that can be fun when used as a lesson is the King of the Ring.
For this first of badminton lessons you will need the badminton equipment along with hula hoops.
Practice court diagonals with a partner. After practice place four players on each court. Two of them need to place three hula hoops in different areas on the key areas on the court and each hoop should be worth 5, 10 and fifteen points.
Have the players take turns serving into each hoop while one of the four picks up the shuttles on the other side. Add the points up on each team to see who wins.
Other badminton lessons for beginners can include service volleys to perfect the accuracy at the beginning of the game. You may also wish to perform some badminton drills to strengthen the upper arm and under arm swings.
As you learn, will want to progress on to harder skills.
You will next want to hone the skills of the clear, drop and smash shots. Each has its own use in a game with each being equally important to learn. Take a bit of time to perform drills on each of these shots to perfect the timing. If the timing is off, you may miss the shot and lose the point.
Of course, all of these badminton lessons are almost worthless if you do not have the proper grip on the racket. The head of the racket needs to have the handle face you in your non-playing hand.
“Shake hands” with the handle and your playing hand. Check to make sure there is a “V” shape between your thumb and index finger.
Don’t hold the racket too tightly; it needs to be a little loose for flexibility and control. If you find you need more accurate control move the grip down the shaft a little bit.
Footwork is equally important when playing the game. Badminton lessons can help you here as well. Skipping, bouncing, shuffling, and lunging are useful tactics to have under your belt.
Proper stance makes this possible. Mid court play will require you to stand with your legs slightly apart, bent and don’t forget to stand on the balls of your feet.
This will leave you ready to return any shot you may receive. Back court play would require you to have power behind your swing, so rotate your hips and shoulder back far enough to be able to have strength behind your return.
Net play requires grace and badminton lessons covering this subject should teach you to move your racket or your wrist in such a small scale manner that it has devastating effects against your opponent.
When you charge forward with purpose with your racket leg while reaching out with the racket arm and keeping the racket high you have a good chance in succeeding with your attack.
Once you’ve learned the basic badminton lessons you can graduate on to the lessons to cover specific shots, positions and moves to have a successful game.
